The project is being conducted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Sund & Bælt.
DTU is selecting the participants and is responsible for the analytical elements of the project.
The trial is being conducted by researchers who have extensive experience in the analysis of tolls, the regulation of transport, and the evaluation of transport projects. This includes experience as a member of:
In addition, DTU participated in a previous trial of alternative driving and transportation tolls in Copenhagen and in a large number of other Danish and international research projects.
Sund & Bælt is responsible for the technological solutions, communication, and user support for participants during the trial.
Sund & Bælt has experience in the collection of payments and conducting checks in the environmental zones in the largest Danish cities, as well as on the Storebælt and Øresund bridges, among others.
Sund & Bælt is in the process of implementing tolls for trucks, and it will draw on its experience and systems in the trial.
Finally, Sund & Bælt is leveraging its operational experience from its leading role in the road toll project in the Danish Ministry of Taxation from 2010 to 2013 and it has assisted both the traffic commission and the motor vehicle commission with proposals for the design of the toll schemes.
The road pricing trial with passenger cars is funded by the European Union.
