About us

The project was conducted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Sund & Bælt.

DTU

DTU selected the participants and was responsible for the analytical elements of the project.

The trial was conducted by researchers who have extensive experience in the analysis of tolls, the regulation of transport, and the evaluation of transport projects. This includes experience as a member of:

  • The commission for the green transition of cars
  • The congestion commission
  • The transport minister’s expert group for future transport

In addition, DTU participated in a previous trial of alternative driving and transportation tolls in Copenhagen and in a large number of other Danish and international research projects.

Sund & Bælt

Sund & Bælt was responsible for the technological solutions, communication, and user support for participants during the trial.

In the trial Sund & Bælt drew on its experience with the collection of payments and enforcement related to road tolling for trucks, low emission zones in the largest Danish cities, and the Storebælt and Øresund bridges.

Finally, Sund & Bælt is leveraging its operational experience from its leading role in the road toll project in the Danish Ministry of Taxation from 2010 to 2013 and it has assisted both the traffic commission and the motor vehicle commission with proposals for the design of the toll schemes.

Funded

The road pricing trial with passenger cars is funded by the European Union.
