The background to the examples
The people in the examples are not real.
You can see the location of the charging zones here.
The examples are based on calculations of the number of minutes or kilometres in the different charging zones on trips from one place to another in Denmark. These are estimates that may vary slightly as trips are driven. The prices are rounded off.
A purpose of the trial was to test different charging systems. That is, whether the trial participants paid charge per kilometre or per minute in one or more charging zones or tested a higher rate. The amount of the charge depended on which charging system the trial participants tested and where and when they drove.
Charge per kilometre
Charge per kilometre in one zone - example
Marie droves from Sønderborg train station to Kolding City Hall and tested charge per kilometre for driving in the national zone on the way there.
Her trip cost approximately DKK 69 during rush hour and DKK 46 outside rush hour.

Charge per minute
Charge per minute in one zone - example
If Marie took the same trip and tests charge per minute, she would pay DKK 0 both during and outside rush hour.
She would not pay anything per minute in the national zone.
